The Urban Whale is the story of a photographer’s quest to save the North Atlantic right whale from extinction by showing us their world for the first time. Wildlife photographer, Nick Hawkins, has been granted unique access to capture the first ever underwater images of this critically endangered species. Climate change has forced these giants into the Gulf of St. Lawrence to feed, causing them to be hit by ships and entangled in fishing lines. There are about 400 North Atlantic right whales left. Since April 2017 we have killed 28, over 4% of the population. Can Nick’s images convince us to save the whales?
